A Discovery of Witches: A Novel (All Souls Trilogy)

A Discovery of Witches - Deborah Harkness My supremely lazy review: Eh. I liked the non-gushy parts. Once the romancing got started, I was supremely annoyed by the two main characters and their total change in personality. But then again, it's like when two of your friends start dating and turn into the MOST ANNOYING PEOPLE IN THE WORLD. Except add vampires and witches and that's pretty much what you've got. Also, sometimes it felt like I was reading three different books smooshed together. THAT SAID, when the next book comes out (yes it's part of a trilogy and I was PISSED when I found out) I will most likely be reading it. I think my qualms about the book are mostly related to the EXTREME Mary Sue-ness of the protagonist. She's all fine and good in the beginning and then all of a sudden she turns into Elizabeth from the V Saga, except with a PhD in History.
